Gavathas is a small fishing village located on the north-west coast of Lesvos Island. The village is built upon a peninsula that shelters the main beach and there are rocky beaches on the other side that are good snorkeling areas when the sea is not too rough.

Gavathas and Kambos Antissa are the fishing port and beach of the village of Andissa, which is located in the mountains above. The area is full of olive trees, orchards, farms and gardens and the dominant color is green.

Gavathas is not particularly developed as a touristic village, its beach Kampos Andissa and the few restaurants here are a wonderfull treat however if you wish to escape the more typical and lively villages of Lesvos. Gavathas has simple beauty and has a certain peaceful nature.
